P.A.N : A Cornmeal pocket. The Arepa is made of corn, specifically pre-cooked cornmeal P.A.N, which revolutionized the making of Arepas by facilitating its preparation. After P.A.N.’s invention in 1960, peeling, grinding, cooking and milling corn was no longer needed to make the traditional Arepa.
